4/4/06-4/9/06

WGI World Championships

By: Cassie Rutan

Happy WGI !!!!!! :)

It all started at 11:30 am on Tuesday morning. We came prepared for the long days ahead. Our staff wrote up a strict schedule (down to water breaks) to maximize our practice time up until the final show. We begin each day with dance class (water), the headstand (water), followed by an equipment warm up, equipment run, and then obnoxious runs (water).

Tri State Championships

I am writing about the Tri-State Circuit championships in review since it
happened quite some time ago. I remember this show being one of the best shows POC has had all season.

3/23-3/26

Santa Clara WGI Power Regional

By: Brian Robinson

Thursday

I had the priviledge of waking up at 5:00am on Thursday morning! This was so I, along with my 2 roommates could make it to the 10:00am rehearsal. We normally don't have rehearsals on Thursday but this was an exception. We rehearsed from about 10:00am until about 10:00pm. We were clarifying things in the show as well as making sure even the little things were as crisp and clean as possible for the weekend.

Camp and Ryle HS weekend

Pam Davis

It's Friday and we are back in Middletown again. Ahhh such a relief. Andy and I arrive at the armory at approximately 6:30. No cars are in sight. Oops, I spoke too soon, the Rutans just pulled up. Not before long the parking lot gets a little fuller. Of course there are warm greetings and we exchange hugs amongst members.

Just like any other weekend, it started off with dance class with Johnny on Friday night, and practice that night concluded with learning our new ending to our show.

3/3/06=3/5/06

Dayton WGI Regional

Christine Porto and Daniel Holland

So we showed up Friday night ready for the big regional. We were at the Lebanon Armory this week, which is normally bad news because it is so small but as a colorguard we have grown somewhat accustomed to it as we have become quite good friends with the army man Sam.

European WGI Regional

Chad Griefe

Marching with the Pride of Cincinnati is a pretty awesome experience within itself, but to take a trip to Europe on top of that makes it that much better. Trying to describe the sensations that we were all having at different times during the trip is a tedious task. I know for me it pushed the limits of what I call exhausted. But when you are at a level of professionalism that is expected at the POC then you just have to grin and bare it.

Our long awaited voyage to Amsterdam for the WGI European Regional came and went way too fast!! It started something like this..
Wednesday morning we met in the parking lot of the Florence (Y'all) K-mart in northern Kentucky. We hung out, took pictures, held a small dance party, loaded some cars, and left for the airport.

Well, from the 15-20 of February we took a trip to the Netherlands for the European Regional. It was an amazing trip. We had a blast. The trip started out a little rough for me, but it only got better from there.

Well this weekend's show was pretty unusually eventful. To start, it was the first time we had full hair and make-up, and I've never been air brushed before, so that was an experience all in itself; I felt like a celebrity!

This weekend started out like every other weekend. I got in my car and started my 4 hour drive down to Ohio from Detroit. Except I had packed an extra suitcase for pride to put a piece of our tarp in. To get our tarp over to Amsterdam we had to cut it up into 30 pieces.

This was my first home show for the season so I was really excited! My family, friends, and the Northmont girls were all there. I was really happy that they were there to see me and to see what I do every weekend.

This weekend was POC's first competition of the 2006 season! This was my very first show marching with Pride, so when the announcer said, "PRIDE OF CINCINNATI - YOU MAY TAKE THE FLOOR IN COMPETITION" I felt incredible!

This weekend was our first competition of the 2006 season. Over all I think we had a really good show!

Our first "real" show... first time being judged... and for many of us (myself included) the first time to perform with the Pride of Cincinnati.

Like every Friday, all of us in POC packed our bags and headed out the door for Middletown, OH. I switched things up a bit and road up with Shannon to keep her company on our almost 2 hour drive. Yes! We were finally back at Mid-town. Even though I'd rather eat green beans through a straw than take out the mirrors, I think I can speak for us all and say that it was good to be back at Mid-town. You know how people say "Home is where the heart is?"........
