Pride of Cincinnati Diaries 2006
3/17/06-3/19/06
Bobby Jones
Just like any other weekend, it started off with dance
class with Johnny on Friday night, and practice that
night concluded with learning our new ending to our
show.
Saturday morning started out with dance class
once again. We then reviewed what we had learned last
night with a few minor changes here and there for
pretty much the whole day, with of course a "fun"
through at the end. I have to admit though it was
probably one of the hardest run throughs for the guard
considering it was the first time that weekend we
going to do a chunk...a BIG chunk, but at the end of
the run through it turned out to be a pretty good run.
It was Sunday morning and we had to get up at 7:30am
for practice that day was starting earlier than usual,
because we needed time to chunk the whole show since
we didn't have a chance to yet that weekend. The run
through that day I felt was an even better run than
the night before. So now there was only so much time
we had to get everything packed up, and ready for the
show.
After arriving at Ryle and getting checked in,
most of us went to watch a few shows before our Pride
body warm up.
After our Pride body warm up, we were
ready to head down to body warm up. There we went over
the head stand and all the new changes we had from
that weekend. Then like at any other show we sang our
song (The Greatest Love of All).
We then went into equipment warm up where we had time to take whatever we needed. The staff played the show music for those
who wanted to take parts with the music. When time was
up we headed into the hallway and were told we were
going on right away. We really weren't sure what had
happened, because the guard who was supposed to go on
before us, was heading back to equipment warm up as we
were being told we were about to go on. So we had to
rush down the hallway to get our floor, because we
were not aware of the change until the last minute.
As we were going into the gym it became hot and dry. It
was hard to breathe while performing in the gym, but
we managed to get through it without a problem.
After the show we had a talk with the staff like any other
show to see how things went. As a guard we felt things
were somewhat rough, but the staff felt it was better
than our last regional (Mideast). I think it just felt
somewhat rough, because the vibe at the show didn't
feel right while performing the show.
After our talk we gathered everything and headed
back to our area, while myself and four others went
back to the gym for retreat.
